Kohima, Sep. 26 (EMN): Defending Champions, Nagaland Police (DGP Team Red) thrashed New Reserve Youth Organisation (NRYO) 5-0 in the inaugural match of the 18th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy to enter the second round of the tournament.
Lima scored a brace for Nagaland Police, while Kekhriesetuo Tsira, Saku and Lipok Sashi also added a goal each for Nagaland Police in a 5-0 rout against New Reserve Youth Organisation.
In a one-sided match, the defending champions opened the scoring through Kekhriesetuo Tsira as he headed a goal home in the 5th minute to give the team a deserving lead. Lima piled up the misery for New Reserve Youth Organisation as he scored two goals in the 6th and 23rd minute for Nagaland Police to make it 3-0 in the first half.
New Reserve team failed to breach the defensive line as the team failed to deal with the counter attacks of the Nagaland Police side.
With just the introduction of the second half, Saku found the net in the 30 second for Nagaland Police as his teammate Lima assisted him to score the fourth goal.
There was no stopping of the goal rampage as Nagaland Police scored another goal in the 62nd minute, with Lipok Sashi gathering a cross from his teammate outside the area and edged past the defender and the keeper to slot a goal home.
New Reserve team failed to create many chances in the game and lacked a finishing touch as they suffered a humiliating defeat. The best chance for NRYO came in the extra time when Lone managed to head the ball over the keeper but Nagaland Police defender Sanyem was there to deflect the ball out of the area, which helped the team to keep a clean sheet in the first match.
