Dimapur, May 16 (EMN): Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), a child health screening and early intervention programme under National Health Mission (NHM) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with two medical establishments on May 15 and 16.
A press release from the RBSK on Wednesday informed that on May 15, RBSK signed a MoU with Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya in Guwahati; and on May 16 with Shija Hospitals and Research Institute in Imphal.
According to the press release, Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya will provide free treatment and management services for congenital cataract and Retinopathy of Prematuritity (RoP) in children from 0- 18 years group while Shija Hospitals will provide services for the operation of cleft lip and cleft palate, Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH), congenital cataract, congenital deafness, and RoP under RBSK for the same age group.
RBSK was implemented in Nagaland in 2013. The programme aimed at early detection and management of 4Ds prevalent in children free of cost. The programme has been initiated to improve child survival and quality of life, the press release stated.
It has informed that to mark the beginning of the MoU, Shija Hospitals along with the department of Health & Family Welfare will be conducting a free heart screening on June 2 either at District Hospital Mokokchung or Naga Hospital Authority in Kohima for all age group.
