Nagaland: Government Higher Secondary School Pfutsero goes back to roots
“Naga cultural attires should be worn with pride and honour”
Dimapur, July 19 (EMN): The Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Pfutsero organised Literary Day on the theme “Back to roots” at the school premises on Friday, July 19.
The programme was marked by several events like folk dance, folk song, debate, beat box, poetry recitations drama and flower arrangements, according to the press release from the institute.
Vice principal of GHSS Pfutsero Kelhikha Kenye, who spoke on “Naga culture and ways of life,” told the students to be proud of their cultural identity and be thankful to God for the rich cultural heritage. He also congratulated and thanked the literary committee for coming up with an innovative idea to observe the 2019 edition of the school literary day.
Commenting on the beautiful cultural attires worn by the students and teachers of the school, Kenye reminded them that Naga cultural attires should be worn with pride and honour. He also recalled how the moral values are passed down from one generation to another by the ancestors through folk tales, stories and through peer learning in the traditional institutions like morungs.
The vice principal encouraged the students to learn Naga folk tales from elders when they visit villages. He also spoke on dignity of labour, honesty and integrity which are integral part of Naga culture.
He reminded the gatherings of how the three golden guiding principles of the ancestors- “shame, fear and taboo” helped them to live in harmony and self regulated, and challenged them to embrace these ideals.
