Fashion designers of Nagaland- Ongtiong Kichu from Dimapur and Gloria Ovung from Wokha participated at the recently Northeast India Fashion Week held at Itanagar.
Designer Ongtiong Kichu from Dimapur started his passion for designing at a very young age of 14 years. Though with little formal training, Ongtiong Kichu’s desire for creating intricate and sophisticated designs makes him go unceasing. His Design focuses on contemporary fusion with a touch of north -eastern tribal patterns and free flowing fabrics. “Fashion to him is a Statement that personifies ones identity rather than just dressing”.
Designer Gloria Ovung from Wokha, Nagaland says Fashion designing for her is a gift from God. She started designing and making little things on her own at a very young age . She Consider her designing and creativity as her inborn quality. Her interest in designing started seeing her mom weaving and making cloths out of Naga fabrics. As She grew up her interest as a child became her passion and her parents have been very supportive and encouraged her to pursue her passion as her profession.
There was a sequence for Naga Handloom in the Fashion Week where designer Gloria and Ontiong showcased the various tribes collection and the showstopper was none other than Nagaland lad Supermodel Opang Jamir who was also the Northeast India Fashion Week Official Show-Director & Choreographer. Opang Jamir also walked the ramp for Designer Archana Kabra from Rajasthan and Desinger Nana Gona respectively.
