Dimapur, Dec. 5 (EMN): The fairly new political party from the state, the Nagaland Congress that recently tried to change its name to the Nagaland Reformation Party has to wait some more time till the new nomenclature is affected by the Election Commission of India.
A press note from the party on Tuesday stated that the letter from ECI on Nov. 7 directed the party to continue the use of its previous nomenclature; Nagaland Congress.
“As per the advice given by Election Commission of India (ECI) vide letter- File No. 56/63/LET/ECI/PP/PPS-III/2017/III Date 7th November 2017 on the subject “Nagaland Congress”, a registered un-recognised Political Party under Section 29A of R.P. Act 1951 and change of Party’s name to Nagaland Reformation Party; the Party is oblige to inform the general public and concerned authority that till such time ECI give necessary clearance, the nomenclature of the party “Nagaland Congress” shall remain in use for all official as well as election purpose,” stated the media cell of the party.
The party also indicated optimism that the ECI will be able to clear the case before notification of state assembly elections, and that the party would face upcoming election as Nagaland Reformation Party.
