Dimapur, Aug. 7 (EMN): BJP President in Nagaland and Minister of Higher and Technical Education and Tribal Affairs Temjen Imna Along and Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton have raised the Narendra Modi-led NDA government for taking the bold move of bifurcating Jammu and Kashmir.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, the two ministers “lauded the bold and daring steps” of the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the NDA alliance partners for repealing Article 370, consequently “stripping the special constitutional provisions from Jammu and Kashmir.”

This step will raise the “spirit and aspirations of the people” and will lead to the “development and progress in the Kashmir valley,” they said.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modiji has, in his tenure, taken some note worthy steps and decisions, with a clear vision to realise its National ambitions while at the same time, keeping the regional spirit of the people realised,” the statement read.

They further reiterated the sentiments stated by Shah that the Modi government respects the “states designated with special powers under Article 371 (A) of the Indian Constitution” and the government had “no such intention to remove the special provision.”

They also reassured that the “situation in Jammu and Kashmir is completely different from the state of Nagaland”, and added that, in case of any such situation, the Nagaland State BJP will stand in unison with the rest of the Nagas, to realise the regional aspirations of the Naga people.”
