While stating that life cannot progress without science and technology in the present time, Additional Director of School Education, Pollen Tep attributed social problems and issues for distracting the minds of the people away from science.
Speaking as the chief guest of the ‘Science awareness mela’ conducted by Uzho Cultural Society (UCS) and sponsored by Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, at Kitsubozou Panchayat hall on April 30, Tep said greater challenge lie before the Naga youth to be innovative and creative as many Naga youth remain idle and don’t want to initiate anything creative and useful.
Stressing on the importance of science and technology for progress and development, Tep said the earth is a very special place with so many hidden things to be discovered. He, therefore, urged the students to open their minds, imagine, initiate and discover and invent new things with persistent enthusiasm towards the end result.
An imaginative and creative mind, he said, would enable one to see things beyond and discover things that are thought non-existent by people. At the same, Tep also pointed out that initiative is also ‘doing things rightly without being told to do’ and are beneficial to the human society.
Stating that science is all about nurturing and transplanting of what we know and learn of, Tep, on the other hand has asserted that unless the wisdom comes from God all the knowledge and learning would be in vain. He advised the students never to lose sight from the ways of God and said when earthly knowledge is combined with the wisdom of God, one could achieve great things in life.
Vezokho Chotso, president of Uzho Cultural Society, in his welcome address, highlighted that UCS is a non-profitable and charitable society registered in the year 2011. He said the society has been engaging in various activities for the welfare of the students and society by collaborating with various agencies and ministries.
The programme was chaired by Aziebu (K Stephen Theyo), while short speech was delivered by Mezhüvilie, chairman of Kitsubozou Colony, and special number by Lila and friends.
