Kohima, Oct. 22 (EMN): A one-day Naga wrestling event of the 7th edition of Naga Wrestle Mania (King of the Ring Series 2018) will take place on Tue. Oct. 23 from 10 am at the Kohima local ground.
The championship organised by 3E (Elite Entertainment Enterprise) Nagaland in Kohima is part of the Combat Sports Festival which will begin from Oct. 23 and conclude on Oct. 27. The inaugural ceremony will be attended by MLA Keneizhakho Nakhro as the special guest followed by light weight category preliminary rounds.
The preliminary rounds will be played separately in categories for lightweight (74 Kg and below) and heavyweight (Above 74 Kg) and after reaching the last 16, they will be grouped together to vie for the ‘King of the Ring’ championship.
A total of 52 wrestlers including 34 light-weight category and 18 heavy-weight category will be taking part in the championship. It may be mentioned, 21 years old Venuzo Dawhuo is the reigning champion of the King of the Ring Series 2017 at the 6th Naga Wrestlemania who will also be taking part.
Unlike the previous editions, NagaWrestleMania 7 (King of the Ring Series), the organisers have mentioned that there will be no individual category championship. The change in format was brought about in order to wind up the event in a day as it is observed that injury sustained in category championships often leads to non-participation in the King of the Ring Championship, the organisers’ stated.
The gallery tickets are priced at INR 100 and chair at INR150. While the festival will also feature ethnic food and merchandise stall, the organisers informed.
