Naga woman entrepreneur selected for NSP award

Kohima, Feb. 24: Dimapur based fashion e-commerce entrepreneur, Zuboni Humtsoe, has been selected for Nari Shakti Puraskar 2016 for outstanding contribution to women empowerment by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.

The President of India, Pranab Mukerjee will be presenting the award on March 8 at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2017.
Zuboni began her venture with an initial investment of Rs 3500 to start a fashion store called ‘PreciousMeLove’ through Facebook in 2011 and utilised artistic photography for promotion.
Building an ‘all-girls’ team, Zuboni’s ‘PreciousMeLove’ today sells everything from premium Nagaland fashion designs, vintage clothing, and fashion accessories from different designers to handmade dolls of Northeast India. In 2016, the team launched its own fashion e-commerce website, becoming one of the first fashion e-commerce websites from Northeast India.

It was learned that PreciousMeLove products are now shipped to almost every part of the country and abroad as well.
“Keeping social responsibility at the heart of our business, we have been conducting and participating in entrepreneurship skill trainings and workshops to encourage more self-empowerment for the students and youths. We are also working towards an inclusive workplace to empower and employ more differently-abled and people from different strata of the society,” states a note from Zuboni.

She informed that currently, PreciousMeLove has a 12-member full time team and 25 part-time employees/trainees.
