Naga students to avail courses at Thapar University

Dimapur, May 21 (EMN): Parliamentary Secretary of Higher and Technical Education, Deo Nukhu, and accompanied by his wife, along with Director of Technical Education Er. Arjun Singh; Principal of Government Polytechnic Kohima, Er. Vipulhou Lhoungu; and Deputy Director of Technical Education, Er. David Tsela, visited Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Jalandhar and Thapar University (TU) in Patiala on May 18 and 19.Nukhu
The visit was necessitated due to lack of technical and vocational institutions in the State and also to explore the possibilities of getting seats from reputed universities for students to study professional courses.
At LPU, the officials visited the laboratories and workshops, classrooms and other amenities created for the students. They also met the Pro-Chancellor, Director and officials of the University and interacted with students’ community from Nagaland. The team expressed satisfaction with the facilities offered to the students by the University.
The officials also visited Thapar University, Patiala, and inspected its 250 acres campus and facilities created in the campus.
It was informed that the Director of the University had agreed in principle to allocate seats for students from Nagaland out of the reserved seats for ST candidates across the country provided they meet the minimum criteria for admission.
It may be mentioned here that Thapar University is ranked 26th by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) under the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India.
