Dimapur, June 23 (EMN): The Naga Students’ Union of Delhi (NSUD) gave a reception to two newly-elected members of Parliament Dr Lorho S Pfoze, representing outer Manipur; and Tokheho Yepthomi, representing Nagaland.
A press release from the union on Sunday informed that the union organised on Saturday a “felicitation” and “interaction” programme, at the Nagaland House in New Delhi.
The organisation stated that it had organised the special programme “with the objective to acknowledge them and also impress upon them of their significant role in representing the Nagas in the Parliament.”
According to the press release, the union’s leaders told the gathering there that the Naga cause was “much more important than any other individual cause.” For said reason, “we should therefore pray, support and work together to achieve our cause,” the press release stated.
Dr Rev. Ricky Medom, pastor of the Naga Christian Fellowship at Delhi, blessed the elected representatives, the updates stated.
Tokheho Yepthomi, elected for the second time to the Parliament from Nagaland, addressed the gathering. “He is hopeful that, with the support of another Naga MP in the house, the going will be smoother. He also encouraged the Nagas especially the students to be sincere in what they do,” the press release stated.
Yepthomi was quoted as having said that the students in Delhi were “the fortunate ones and the future of the Nagas depends much on the students.” He stressed on the importance of the Nagas in Delhi to be united and to work together for the greater good, the updates stated.
Likewise, Dr. Lohro spoke about the importance of love between communities and of “basing our work on truth.”
“It is important for all communities to live together in harmony. For that to happen, the communities need to interact and understand each other. Without the support of the Meities, Kukis or the Zomis, the Nagas cannot develop and grow,” he said.
Lohro spoke about the importance of ‘basing our work on truth’: “When we stand on truth, nothing can stand to deter us from achieving our goal.”
He was stated to have requested the Naga community in Delhi to “continuously support them in the form of interaction and sharing of ideas.” “He also opened his door to all communities for any need,” the press release stated.
Among other dignitaries, the education minister of Manipur Thokchom Radheshyam Singh also attended the event, the updates stated. He stressed on the need for harmony between communities, the union stated.
