Dimapur, July 13: A 22-year-old man from Nagaland was allegedly murdered in Chennai, according to the Naga Students’ Union, Chennai (NSUC). The incident came to light on July 13 after news of the ‘murder’ started circulating on social media platforms, Chibenthung Naga, the vice-president of NSUC, told Eastern Mirror over the phone.

As per the information received by the NSUC from Chennai police, the victim identified as Kaboto Kiba, was allegedly murdered at AGD colony, Velachery in Chennai, but the exact date of the incident could not be ascertained as the police have refused to divulge detailed information till the filing of this report.

“The victim was working at a fast food restaurant as a fast food master in Chennai and was also not registered with the NSUC which was also the reason his missing report was not brought to our notice or to anyone else’s,” Naga pointed out. The victim was from Khutovi village in Niuland subdivision, Dimapur district.

The NSUC vice-president lamented that even after repeated information and requests to the Naga students or working individuals to register themselves, most of them fail to do so. During such situations, it becomes difficult for the union or any organisation to identify the victims, he added.

The body of the victim has been kept at Government Royapettah Hospital in Chennai and more details of the incident are awaited from the police, he said.
