Naga lad wins medals at Taekwondo championship

Dimapur, Jan.11: The 31st National ITF Taekwondo Championship which was recently held in Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat from December 28-30, 2016, saw the success of Menuodilhou Maurice Usou, from Nagaland, who won 1 Gold and 2 silver medals.

In addition, the Open Weight Individual Sparring from 7 weight category which was introduced for the first time, with a cash price of Rs.40,000 for the winner and Rs.15,000 for runner’s up, in which Menuodilhou Maurice Üsou got second place. Further, Taekwondo Association of India has also declared that there will be cash price in the Open Weight individual sparring every National Championship.

The upcoming “Global ITF Kick Boxing Professional Tournament” to be held in Mongolia, China for a cash price of USD 5,00,000/- will likely see the participation of 16 countries. A five member team including a coach will be representing India in the upcoming mega event. All expenses will be covered by the organisers for the whole competition.

Meanwhile, Menuodilhou Maurice, who will be going for the selection to be held in Delhi has requested prayer support from well-wishers back home.
