Dimapur, Jan. 3: The Naga Hoho has once again reaffirmed its 3rd Assembly Resolution which calls for amendment of the Nagaland Municipal Act.

This was one of the decisions taken during the Naga Hoho executive council meeting held at Dimapur on January 2 last.

In a press release, the Naga Hoho stated that in the event of any adverse effect in future with regards to infringements of Article 371 (A) of the Constitution of India through introduction of 33% women reservation, it should not be held responsible.
“Following the unilateral decision taken by the Eastern Nagaland People’s’ Organisation (ENPO) on 29th December 2016, superseding the Joint Ultimatum submitted to the Government of Nagaland on 10th December 2016 demanding not to conduct Municipal elections, the Naga Hoho is compelled to take its own position in the larger interest of the people.

“It has been observed that all the tribe Hohos have taken their own decisions/positions in regards to holding of municipal elections.

“Therefore, the executive council resolved to leave the matter to the concern tribe hoho and the people in their respective jurisdiction to decide what is best for the people.”
