Dimapur, April 17 (EMN): Dr. L Rhungcho Jami (30), son of Libemo Jami of Chudi village in Wokha, met with a watery grave on April 16 during outing with friends at Gadchiroli. He was serving as Medical Officer at Garcholi, Bhamragarh, in Maharashtra.
A memorial service was held on April 17 at Government Medical College organised by Naga Christian Fellowship (NCF), Nagpur. After the memorial service, his body was flown to Delhi Monday night. The body will reach Dimapur by flight on Tuesday afternoon and be taken to his parental home in Wokha for the last rites to be held on Wednesday. Late Dr. L Rhungcho Jami served as president of Northeast Christian Fellowship, the erstwhile North East Students’ Christian Fellowship of Nagpur (NESCFON) in 2009-10.
According to family sources, late Dr. Rhungcho was widely known in Bhamragarh area for his community service. Bhamragarh, where he was posted, is 330 km from Nagpur. It was learned that remote villagers wanted him to continue with his service in the area despite expiry of his bond agreement with the government.
