NACF urges to repair road

Dimapur, July 25 (EMN): Niuland Area Citizens’ Forum (NACF) has requested the responsible authority to get the road constructed/repaired from Patkai-Sietekhema-Showuba road without any further delay in order to avoid public ire.
The Forum has highlighted on the pitiable road condition from Patkai-Seithekiema-Showuba which has deteriorated due to prolong non-maintenance of the said road. Besides, it stated that due to recent collapse of the 4th Mile bridge, the people residing beyond the bridge had to travel the said road with immense hardship.
It regretted the apathy of the department and administrator concerned in maintaining the said road. The Forum alleged that the road, which was supposed to be repaired immediately as per the DC order with the directive from R&B department following after the bridge collapsed, was reported in a worst condition.
Just to satisfy the public, it said one JCB was detailed/ instructed to filled the pot holes with mud which in fact had become worst with monsoon showers. It added that residents are in deep distress as their repeated appeals through media have fallen on deaf ears.
It claimed that buses, cars, two wheelers, three wheelers have to halt after every five/ six minutes for any possible defect while in some places they have to fill mud to ply. It said the road poses more danger for vehicles especially at night.
The Forum stated that the present status of road condition was totally unacceptable as the untimely rain will again invite disheartening situation. While stating that many of the village roads were not even constructed, it said some constructed roads have not been maintained adding the department never bothered about the problem faced by the citizen.
Further, it said the worst to suffer are the students as there are numbers of colleges and schools in those areas.
“Proper road infrastructure is a right for the citizen. By no way should the people suffer due to lack of good quality road condition. If any damage is caused to the local infrastructure and school children, the department and administration concerned will be held responsible whatsoever and we the citizen will not hesitate to bring in any action,” the Forum president Kakishe Sumi and the general secretary, Khuvisge Hollo, said in a joint statement.
In the light of the above statement circumstances, the Forum requested the responsible authority to repaired the said without further delay.
