There is so much fuss in media/ social media regarding implementation of 33% reservation for women in Nagaland so here is my thought. Let us first implement 33% reservation in the upcoming 2018 State Assembly. I am sure the Government of the day who supports Women reservation will pass it in the Assembly and it won’t infringe the Article 371A since it will be passed by the state assembly. The opposition less Government of the day is strongly united in making sure our Naga women gets a place in the ULB ( Urban local bodies). So by implementing it for the upcoming state assembly election they will set an example that they are visionary men who cares for our Naga women and wants them to share equal responsibility together in our state highest decision making body. I am sure the various tribal organisations who are against the implementation of 33% in ULB will support them since our elected representative will be leading an example that they care for women reservation by sacrificing their seats. I am sure NMA and JACWR (Joint Action Committee on Women Reservation) will fight for reservation in NLA (Nagaland Legislative Assembly) if the various tribal organisations stand united to have it implemented in the upcoming 2018 elections. Looking forward to example set by the current elected MLAs to show us the way that they truly care for our women.
