Musik-A (Alobo Naga school of music) brought in a lot of cheer apt for the season with the 2nd edition of their Winter Recital.
After the whole hustle and bustle of the Hornbill International Music Festival, ‘the Winter Recital’ played out to be a breath of fresh air as the students gave stellar performances.
There was no lack of talent in the show amongst the students who ranged from the ages of 4 and above. Singing classics like ‘True Colours’ by Phil Collins to more Generation Y songs like ‘Night Changes’ by One Direction, all age groups of the audience had their feet tapping. The show had students show off their skills with classical ensembles to piano pieces as well.
This year, ‘a far better chief guest’ as it was mentioned or should we say chief guests were present at the recital. The children from Bright Morning Star Children’s Home, Kohima, made a special appearance and enthralled the audience with two special songs. Bright Morning Star Children’s Home started in 2012 with a vision not just to have their children deliver in academics but also in other extracurricular activities. And like the host for the evening said “makes more sense to have the children from the Children’s Home to be a part of the recital than a politician who would have turned up late anyway.”
From last year’s recital to this year, one can clearly see the growth and direction the music school is taking. Alobo Naga has also been closely associated with the children’s care giving home for a long time and said that all support has come from his friends and family and parents of the students to make the recital a grand success.
