MTLT to commemorate Squadron’s 25 years of music

Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT), the Youth organization of Mokokchung Town is setting up to celebrate the oldest surviving rock band “Squadron” 25 year of existence in a bigger way. Informing about the band silver jubilee at Longkumer Kilem on Monday the president of MTLT and convener of the Jubilee Imkummeren Jamir expressed the Squadron have motivated and aspired many young musician in their own capacity. He also informed that the band was formed in 1990 when havoc and dispirit was prevailing in the state. But they have brought many laurels to the people of Mokokchung and Nagas during their endeavors at different beat contests and concerts across India. As a tribute to the oldest surviving Rock band the MTLT will be organizing a free open air concert at Imkongmeren Sport Complex on December 29, 2015, MTLT president informed. “We believe through music we can bring peace and harmony in the society,” Imkummeren asserted, adding, “It is very rare in Nagaland for a band to complete 25 years of its journey in keeping their love for music alive,”The Squadron band is a heavy metal band formed in Mokokchung. The band members comprises of Wati Imchen on Vocal; K Lanu Aier on Bass; O Temsu on Guitar; B Bendang Jamir on Guitar and Mar Tzudir on Drum. The band also expressed that they will give their best performance covering their favorite numbers using the latest high techs gadgets not like the old days costume made gadgets. One of the band member’s Wati Imchen recalled that their first concert as band was staged on August 15, 1990 at the old Town Hall of Mokokchung and their first number was from the Iron Maiden- “Warth Child” using their custom made processors and gadgets. They also informed that this celebration is to mark the togetherness of the band and how their love for music has survived them as a band. They also disclosed that they wanted to rejuvenate the love for music in the Mokokchung in particular and Nagaland in general by initiating a yearly event as mark of their celebration. The band had sung more than 400 songs including their originals during their span of 25 years. And as a band they meet and performed at least one’s ever year during various occasion /events.
