Kohima, Feb. 14: The Class XI promotion and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations under the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) got underway today in the state. Altogether, 32744 students have been enrolled for the two exams which are being conducted in 54 centres for HSSLC and 151 for Class XI across the state.
According to NBSE officials, the first day of the board exams was held peacefully – despite the state-wide shutdown – and there has been a good turnout of students as compared to previous years.
Meanwhile, the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination will commence from Wednesday. 22446 students have been enrolled to sit for the exam in 76 centres and 2 sub-centres.
Although an indefinite statewide bandh has been imposed by tribe organisations in Nagaland, exemptions have been made for students appearing the NBSE board exams, teachers and invigilators, departments involved in the conduct of the exams, and public/private transport ferrying students and teachers during examination hours.
The bandh organisers have, however, made it clear that while officials of the exam, related departments were exempt from the purview of the bandh, using/plying government registered vehicles remains restricted.
