Swachh Bharat at Medziphema

Dimapur, Oct. 3 (EMN):
Medziphema Town Council (MTC) had organised a programme on Swachh Bharat and Swachhta Hi Sewa (SHS) on October 2 at Main town junction with the Parliamentary Secretary of Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio, as the chief guest.

In his speech, the chief guest congratulated the public, NGOs and officials for their involvement in the campaign and also observing the Swachh Bharat successfully in the sub-division. He urged the citizens to come forward and participate in the cleanliness drive with an aim to intensify and improve the sanitary life.

Calling on the people to extend continuous cooperation, he called for mass participation from the public, NGOs, churches and other organisation for achieving the goals.

ADC Medziphema, Vikhweno Chale, in her keynote address, urged the citizens of the sub-division to keep the town clean and beautiful and to dedicate towards the development of the environment.

Swacch Bharat at Peren

The programme was chaired by EAC Medziphema, Sentilong Ozukum. Pastor of Town Baptist Church ‘A,’ Rev. Zhabu Therhuja said the invocation prayer.

In a similar programme, Peren Town Council (PTC) had organised a one-day programme on Swaachhta Pakhwada on October 2 at the ADC’s conference hall on the theme “Swaachhta Hi Seva.”

Additional Deputy Commission, Peren, S Tainu, in her keynote address, presented a brief highlight on the Swaach Bharat Mission. She encouraged the people to keep their surrounding neat and clean and also maintain proper toilets for personal health and hygiene. She also extended appreciation to the sanitary workers for their services rendered to the public.

Short speeches were delivered by chairman of Peren Ward Union, Head GB, and president of Peren Youth organisation. Brand Ambassador of Swaachh Bharat Mission, Peren, Abeiu Meru felicitated the sanitary workers and also administered the SBM pledge.

With the an aim to spread awareness among the populace towards cleanliness, cadets of Sainik School Punglwa combined with the elders, youth and students of Punglwa B village carried out a social work on October 2.

While the cadets has, on earlier occasions, conducted several cleanliness campaigns in the surrounding villages, it was the first combined effort of SSPN and the villagers toward clean India since the launch of Swaach Bharat Mission in 2014. The campaign was spearheaded by Wing Commander S Haralu, had brought better understanding and co-operation between the school and the inhabitants of Punglwa.
