Mon’s DC cautions against disputes in district

Dimapur, March 13 (EMN): The deputy commissioner of Mon, K Thavaseelan has cautioned village councils that in the aftermath of the elections, in case any disputes / fight arises causing harm to human lives or damage to public / private property, the concerned village council shall be held squarely responsible and liable to be fined a minimum of INR 50,000 in addition to dissolution of village council.
Stating that there have been reports of some village councils passing diktats involving expulsion of some GBs / residents from the village for voting for or against a certain party / candidate, DC has warned that if found to be true, the village council will face immediate disciplinary action including heavy fine and dissolution, DC stated.
DC also reminded that according to Section 15(1) of the Village Councils Acts of 1978, village councils shall be auxiliary to the District Administration and have powers to deal with maintenance of law and order and also to enforce orders passed by the competent authority on the village as a whole.
Citizens asked to report grievances: DC also informed general public of Mon district that details any grievance related to water, electricity, mobile connectivity, sanitation, and inordinate delay in processing of files by any department and others may be intimated to DC via SMS / WhatApp at 7005766737.
