Mon’s DC briefs sector officers about vulnerability mapping

Dimapur, Jan. 10 (EMN): The district election officer of Mon district Thavaseelan K briefed sector magistrates and police officers of nine assembly constituencies of Mon district on Jan. 9 at the DC’s conference hall in Mon. The DPRO informed about the event on Thur.
Thavaseelan is said to have informed the officers that election duty take precedence over other responsibilities. He urged them to be sincere and work hard for successful conduct of the elections.
The official highlighted the concept of vulnerability in the context of elections: the exercise of Vulnerability Mapping (VM) is to be undertaken with the objective of clearly identifying in advance the vulnerable voters in all the constituencies.
‘VM exercises’ shall be undertaken without exception in three stages, it was informed. It will identify voters or segment of voters who are vulnerable to threat or intimidation; identify persons who are causing such vulnerability; and initiate preventive measures against the persons responsible for causing the vulnerability, Thavaseelan informed.
The deputy commissioner has urged the sector magistrates to undertake their pre-poll and poll day responsibilities diligently. He encouraged them to undertake frequent trips to their respective zone and liaison with all stakeholders as a confidence building measure.
Sub Division Officer (civil) Reny Wilfred spoke about the Systemic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP). The officer urged the officials to ‘take up effective activities’ in their respective jurisdictions.
