Mokokhung observes Swachhta Pakhwada fortnight

Mokokchung, August 9 (EMN): Joining with the rest of the country, officials of Nehru Yuva Kendra and National Service Scheme (NSS) are currently observing the cleanliness drive “Swachhta Pakhwada” fortnight from August 1 -15 in various villages and Mokokchung town.
Swachhta Pakhwada is being observed from August 1 – 15 under the directive of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MoYRS), Government of India, which called upon all the youth organisations to observe in a befitting manner.
In Mokokchung town, officials of Nehru Yuva Kendra along Mokokchung District Sports, National Service Scheme (NSS) units of People’s College and Fazl Ali College, registered clubs under NYK undertook a cleanliness drive today at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung. Altogether 138 participants comprising of 78 males and 60 females partook in the cleanliness drive.
The programme began with reading of the message of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and the dream of Mahatma Gandhi message on clean India. Participants also took pledge to devote 100 hours of their time for Clean India Mission.Under Swachhta Pakhwada, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mokokchung, carried out cleanliness drive on August 1 with members of Neighbourhood Youth Parliament, where the youth were imparted knowledge on the flagship programmes of Government such as sanitation and Swachh Bharat Mission at Salangtem community hall, Mokokchung. It was attended by 27males and 21 females.
Simultaneously, Nehru Yuva volunteers also undertook cleanliness drive at Chungtia, Mopungchuket, Mokokchung and Chuchuyimlang villages.
During the fortnight programme, Nehry Yuva volunteers are also organising campaigns to sensitise public on environment conservation, cleanliness, avoid open defecation. Cleanliness programme will continue till August 15.
It may be mentioned here that under the directive of MoYRS, Government Of India, NYKS had decided to undertake nation-wide intensive cleanliness and hygiene campaign under Swachhta Pakhwada. The initiation will be undertaken by all the districts of Nehru Yuva Kendras and NSS involving National Youth Volunteers (NYV), affiliated youth clubs, local youth and other key stakeholders in the district and motivate them to organise and participate whole heartedly in the campaign.
