Mokokchung landslide: One seriously injured, buildings damaged

Dimapur, June 14 (EMN): A woman in her late 30’s reported to have been seriously injured and was rushed to the hospital on June 13 at Mokokchung town due to landslides.
According to the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) on Thursday, a house at Penli Ward was damaged when the retaining wall of the adjacent building collapsed. The victim, identified as Sakumongla of Longkhum village in Mokokchung district was injured during the stated collapsed that occurred in the late night on Wed. June 13.
Due to incessant rainfall in Mokokchung town for the last few days, minor landslides took place in many localities affecting the normal life of the citizen. Two more buildings were also been damaged on the same night at different localities due to mud slides and falling of trees, the DIPR added.
On hearing the news, the Mokokchung district administration visited the locations and had met with the affected families. An emergency relief was provided to all three affected families and the injured lady, it added. Further, the district administration has also stated that two more buildings at Sangtemla and Mongsenbai Wards have been damaged but no casualty was reported.
