Minor assaulted for theft

Wokha, Oct. 4 (EMN): One minor boy from Wokha was rushed to a hospital in Kohima under critical condition following a fatal fall from a 2 storeyed building in order to avoid assault for an alleged theft of mobile phone.

The incident pertained to alleged theft of a mobile phone involving Rendemo Ngullie (15), a Class IX student of Brighter High School, Wokha, son of Thungbemo Ngullie of Old Changsu village, and Er. Benrithung Kithan, an SDO in the department of Irrigation and Flood Control from the same village.

It was reported that Er. Benrithung Kithan had filed an FIR at Wokha police station Wokha on October 3 pointing accusation to the involvement of Rendemo Ngullie.

Basing on the FIR, the police interrogated the boy and was later released finding him innocent.

However, it was reportedly learned that the boy was whisked away by the accused and unknown accomplices for clarification. It probably appeared that the boy had fell from the 2 storeyed building in order to avoid the assault. Following the fall, the boy suffered broken his leg and hand. He was rushed to Kohima for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the Officer in-Charge of Wokha Police Station confirmed that the alleged accused Er. Benrithung Kithan has been taken under its custody following an FIR filed by the victim’s family members.

The police officer also informed that irate public gathered at the police station and demanded to hand over the accused to them. Stating that the matter is under investigation, he was hopeful that the issue will be settled soon.
