DIMAPUR, February 10

A high-level ministerial team led by State Home Minister Y Patton will be visiting these three places (Kiphire, Pungro and Shamator) on Thursday and will have interactions with all the civil society leaders and publics.
The members of high-level ministerial team are Y Patton, Home Minister, CM Chang, MLA, Naiba Konyak, Adviser & MLA, BS Nanglang, Parliamentary Secretary and Khumo, Parliamentary Secretary.
It may be mentioned that the team had tried to visit these three mob-violence-affected villages on Wednesday but failed as their helicopter could not take off due to bad weather.“Ever since the police came to know of the unfortunate incident of killing the couple on the night of February 6, the state government has been making all out efforts not only to arrest the culprits but also deploying additional forces to these villages to contain any possible outbreak of violence. Unfortunately, mob indulged in a series of mindless acts of vandalisms at Kiphire, Pungro and Shamator. The district administrations and police have put up all measures to contain any recurrence of such mindless mob violence, besides deploying additional forces,” said a statement from the Home Minister’s Office.
The government at the same time has constituted an ‘Inquiry Commission’ to investigate into the unfortunate incident and appeals all the communities to be patient and extend their cooperation to the Government and its administrations and law enforcement agencies who are already on the job to maintain law and order.
The government has also decided to give appointment to the next of kin and also decided to give an ex-gratia of Rs. 1 lakh to the next of kin of those killed. The Home minister assured that the district administrations and police have initiated all measures to see that peace and tranquility in the areas are not disturbed and towards these, all the citizens are requested to expend their support and cooperation, the statement added.
