MGHSS lifts inter secondary and higher secondary school football trophy

Mokokchung, Sep. 23 (EMN): Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School (MGHSS) emerged as the champions of Inter Secondary & Higher Secondary School Football Tournament 2007 after defeating Senayangba Government Higher Secondary School (SGHSS) in the final match by one goal at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung on Saturday.
The lone goal for MGHSS was scored by Tsuktikumzuk jersey 9 outside the T-Box in the 62nd minute. Both the teams started well-organised in both attack and defense. Midway through the first half SGHSS made couples of close attempts, however, the agile goalkeeper saved the day for MGHSS. The first half ended in no goals from both sides.
In the second half, MGHSS vigorously fought but their hopes of scoring a goal were dashed by the opposition defenders. Nevertheless, MGHSS afford paid off when Tsuktikumzuk found an opening just outside the T-Box area in the 62nd minute and scored the lone goal to seal the match.
The winner walked away with a cash prize of Rs. 20000/- plus trophy and certificates and runner-up bagged a total of Rs. 10000/- plus certificates.
Meanwhile, the final match was graced by John Makhabo, District Youth Co-ordinator Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mokokchung as the chief guest. He appealed the young players to inculcate professionalism in one’s own life, saying sports have ample avenue for earning besides ensuring one’s career.
He also advised the players never to accept the definition of life from others but it is their life to definite it themselves. The chief guest also gave away the tournament prizes to the winners.

Best Defender: Lidongchem (Nagaland Christian Residential School)
Best Goal Keeper: Temjenyuba (Children School)
Best Player: Baliba (Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School)
