Merang Jamir appointed Khel India Trust Sports Director

Dimapur, April 28 (EMN): International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Judge Merang Jamir who is also the President of Nagaland Rifle Association (NRA) has added a feather to his cap by becoming the first Naga to be appointed as Sports Director (India level), Rifle Shooting Sport- Khel India Trust. This was informed by Jamir to media persons on Friday April 28 at a press conference held at his residence in Dimapur.
In a message addressed to Merang Jamir by Khel India Trust, the Trust described Jamir of ‘having a great level talent in Rifle Shooting Sport which can remarkably help needed boys’ and girls’ in building next generation sports star’. They also acknowledged Jamir’s expertise in rifle shooting sport which will truly help the future activities of Khel India Trust and conveyed optimism that his inclusion in the team will impact the Trust actions in a more effective manner in shaping future sports star.
“Khel India Trust is an organisation which is working sincerely for spreading sport culture among youth of our country. Khel India Sports Training Academy is helping train talented boys and girls from rural areas and non-metro cities” briefed Jamir to media persons.
Rifle shooting sport still need to be encouraged and sensitised in the State as people are not responsive towards this sport, said Jamir.
With the aim to encourage the sport in the State and especially target the youth category he reiterated that a four day Rifle and Pistol shooting training camp conducted by the NRA will be held in Kohima from May 3 to May 6 which will be jointly organised by Aries Rifle and Pistol shooting academy and Dzükou Rifle Shooting Club.
Jamir also informed that after the training camp, the first Dzükou championship will be held in Kohima for 12 years and above with a registration fee of Rs. 1500. The equipments for the shooting training camp will be provided while the last date for registration will be on or before May 2.
The four day Rifle and Pistol shooting training camp will be supervised and conducted by L. Tomba, shooting coach, Sports Authority of India, Northeast Regional Centre Imphal and Tijen Sharma, national shooter, Imphal. The newly appointed Sports Director (India level), Rifle Shooting Sport- Khel India Trust will be the jury of the competition.
