MEC launches scheme for women entrepreneurs

Mokokchung, July 25 (EMN): Mokokchung Entrepreneur Consortium (MEC), with the support from YouthNet, today launched its ambitious project ‘La Catalyst’- a loan scheme exclusively dedicated to promotion of women entrepreneurs at Whispering Wind, Mokokchung.
‘La Catalyst’ is the first of its kind scheme under MEC Micro Finance Initiative with very nominal interest rate of 12 percent per annum and to be recovered within one year. Altogether, 20 women entrepreneurs availed a cheque of Rs 50,000 each in the presents of MEC officials and guarantors during the launching programme.
Before giving way the cheque, MEC chairman Tsuk Longkumer said MEC is an association to provide monetary assistance to genuine entrepreneurs to boost the local economy. He also added that under MEC Micro Finance Initiative, altogether 134 entrepreneurs have availed loan which sum-up to more than Rs one crore since its inception with positive recovery.
He also informed that “La Catalyst” Micro Finance Initiative for Women is a unique scheme to provide loan at very nominal interest rate to promote women entrepreneurs in Mokokchung.
Tsuk further encouraged the beneficiaries to use the loan judiciously for the growth of their business in right direction so that the recovery loan would help other upcoming entrepreneurs in return.
Pastor of Sungkomen Baptist Church, Rev. O Yashi, who offered the dedicatory prayer, also encouraged the beneficiaries to dominate the local economy while asserting that the world is measured by its economy. An entrepreneur Atula also spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries.
