DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 22: The Mokokchung district administration has revoked the suspension order issued to the Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA). In a statement issued today, the district administration has stated that the suspension order was revoked following a letter from the MDFA assuring smooth conduct of the remaining MDFA Trophy games.
In a separate statement, the organizers of MDFA Trophy 2016 have informed that the “stalled semi-final matches of the MDFA Trophy 2016” would be held October 24 next. “The 1st match between Sports Society Suyim and Dilong Youth Association will start from 9:00 AM onwards. Right after that, the second semi-final match between Fusion FC and Shitilong SA will commence at 12:00 noon. “Very unfortunately, the ongoing 2016 MDFA Trophy was suspended by the Mokokchung district administration on Friday, October 21, however, after arriving at an amicable understanding based on earlier order from the district administration, the decision to resume the trophy was agreed to,” it stated.
The MDFA and the organizing committee called an emergency meeting with the four semi-final teams and made known to them about the MDFA Trophy 2016 terms and conditions, it informed. “The coach and managers of the four teams qualified for semi-finals agreed to the terms and conditions of the MDFA.”
It also expressed regret at the ugly turn of events in this edition of the MDFA trophy. “The MDFA strongly believes that the football fans and the participating teams would abide by the rules and regulations laid down by the MDFA and bring this MDFA Trophy 2016 to a successful conclusion.”
