Telongjem FC trash SSS Yellow 5-0; Mongsenbai enter quarters

Dimapur, Oct. 11 (EMN): SSS Yellow, Telongjem FC and Mongsenbai Youngsters secured a berth in the quarter finals from different pools in the ongoing MDFA Trophy at Imkongmeren Sports Complex in Mokokchung here today.
In the first match played between SSS Yellow and Telongjem FC in Pool-B, Telongjem FC completely dominated the match and won the match 5-0.
SSS Yellow had two wins in the previous league matches and therefore, had already secured a berth in the quarterfinals. But, Telongjem FC today proved that they are a team to be reckoned with as their brilliant midfield and strikers tormented the SSS Yellow defense and goalkeeper throughout the match.
The first goal for Telongjem came in the 2nd minute as striker Bendangtoshi (jersey no. 11) breached the defense line and kicked the ball into the nets. Telongjem’s Bendangtoshi again scored two other goals in the 16th and 46th minute thereby scoring a hat-trick.
Telongjem’s Captain, Nyithog Magh (jersey no. 7) added a goal in the 36th minute while midfielder Awangbo Kaurinaah (jersey no. 10) scored the fifth goal in the 67th minute. Both SSS Yellow and Telongjem FC have entered the quarterfinals which will commence from October 13 onwards.
In the second match played between Alempang Y/A and Mongsenbai Youngsters from Pool – C, Mongsenbai Youngsters beat Alempang by a lone goal. But that goal by Mongsenbai, which was scored by Bendangsunep (jersey no. 17) at the 65th minute, was more than enough since the team is entering the quarters as the leading team from Pool – C. The last league matches will be played on Thursday from 1p.m onwards.
