Dimapur, May 9: The chief secretary of Nagaland, Temjen Toy on Thursday underscored that in order to create more government posts for new projects and schemes, various departments need to “waste out (sic) posts that are no longer required.”

Speaking at the inaugural function of the Integrated Management of Public Distribution System (IM-PDS) at the directorate of Food and Civil Supplies in Dimapur, Toy said that the manpower rationalisation committee has been formed to tackle such issue.

“There are many posts that are not needed or required anymore but still occupied; these posts need to be done away with and leave room for new posts,” the chief secretary reiterated. This, he said, in connection with the IM-PDS project requiring employees.

A new central sector scheme namely IM-PDS has been approved for implementation for 2018-20. The key objectives of the scheme are to integrate PDS system and portals of states and union territories with central system portals, introduction of national portability, and de-duplication of ration cards beneficiary, etc.

Toy said that such schemes would ensure that the beneficiary would get the necessary ration he or she is suppose to get, apart from transparency being maintained.

“We are living in a time when many are looking to find fault with the government but because of the efforts of the young people and new schemes, changes are occurring,” said Toy.

The director of Food and Civil Supplies, Asangla Imti also spoke at the function. She said that the scheme would help in filtering duplicate records of Aadhaar cards and repetitive demographic data.

She informed that a total of 55010 Aadhaar cards have repetitive entries and 88446 number of repetitive demographic data in Nagaland.

“This scheme will help to curb all the repetitive entries and maintain transparency for all,” said Imti.

She informed that the scheme would help in implementation of nation-wide portability in food grains distribution apart from creating national-level data repository for de-duplication of beneficiary data (Aadhaar based).

The use of advanced data analytics techniques to bring about continuous improvements will also be implemented with the help of the National informatics Centre.
