Manipur women loses to UK’s polo association

Imphal, Jan.18: United Kingdom’s Hurlingham Polo Association (HPA) defeated host team Manipur 8-4 in the ongoing 5-day 2nd Manipur statehood day women’s polo tournament 8-4 at the historic Mapal Kangjeibung, the world’s oldest living polo ground in Imphal on Wednesday.
Charlotte Amy Sweeney, Annabel Mcnaught and Maimie Powell scored for (HPA), while Thoudam Tanna and Soibam Langlen scored for the host team. The host team also lost their first match to Team United States Polo Association (USPA) Women 5-7 goals during the opening day of the tournament which was inaugurated by DGP Manipur LM Khaute, accompanied by All Manipur Polo Association (AMPA) President Dr K Saratchandra on Tuesday afternoon.
The tournament is organised by Manipur Tourism in association with the AMPA and will continue till January 21, the statehood day of Manipur, the only state that has women’s polo teams.
