Imphal, Jan. 13 (EMN): Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar Singh has inaugurated a primary health centre (PHC) at Bendramai on Jan 12 Fri.
The PHC is located about 60 kms from Tadubi of Senapati district.
The minister also dedicated a foundation stone for the construction of Chakha primary health sub-centre bordering Nagaland state.
Speaking as chief guest at the function Jayantakumar Singh said that the Bendramai health centre ‘now belongs to the villagers residing in and around the village.’ He assured the villagers about providing the required infrastructure to make the hospital operational on a 24/7 basis. In this regard he sought the cooperation of the villagers.
Singh asserted that the government had been continuously introducing welfare schemes for the poor in the country and the state. Schemes for free treatment and necessary laboratory tests for BPL patient will be officially launched by the government on Jan. 21. Cards will be distributed to the eligible beneficiaries for the scheme, he said. He informed that a new ambulance will be distributed to the hill districts on the occasion.
Also, Tribal Affairs and Hills & Fisheries Minister N Kayisii said that the doctors and staff of the health center ‘need to work with dedication’ so that the people of the area ‘can extend their sincerity and cooperation.’ They should not feel ‘insecure’ but must feel proud to serve the people in the remotest places, he added.
Attending the function as guest of honour, the director of Health Services & SMD/(NHM) of Manipur Dr. K Rajo Singh appealed to the people of the place to cooperate with the government in such initiatives. He said that it was the responsibility of the villagers to take care of the newly-inaugurated public health center.
Walking sticks and wheelchairs were distributed to the needy as a part of the function.
