Manipur assures minimum facilities during poll

IMPHAL, Jan 8: A meeting held under the aegis of the office of the District Election Officer (DEO), Imphal West District, with the representatives of power department (MSPDCL) & Water Supply Department (PHED) at Lamphelpat resolved to provide Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) including water supply and electricity to the electors during the upcoming 11th State Assembly Election 2017.

The meeting also discussed on matters for providing AMF to the polling stations of the district by last week of January that will also cover proper supply of toilet, ramp & electricity to all the polling stations of Imphal West without these facilities, according to official sources.

Robert Singh Kshetrimayum, DEO of Imphal West, briefed on the duties of the MSPDCL to ensure uninterrupted power supply to offices of CEO, Lamphel, DEOs and Returning Officers, government press and also at the counting centres in addition to setting up State/ district level power control rooms.

He also asked the representatives present in the meeting to make arrangement for standby generators at all counting centres and government press.

Besides, he asked the PHED Department to set up State/ District level PHED Control Rooms and intimate contact details to State Election Control Room (24 hours service). He further said that the Department should make special water supply arrangements at offices of Chief Electoral Officer, DEOs, Returning Officers, Government Press, Transport Cell at counting centres.

Deputy General Manager Imphal Electricity Division II, Oinam Kartik Singh; Executive Engineer Maintenance Division PHED Ksh Lakshaheb Singh; and Executive Engineer Imphal West Division, PHED K Ibochou Singh; took part in the meeting as department representatives. It was also attended by representatives of MSPDCL and PHED Departments, ROs and staff of the election team of the DEO, Imphal West.
