Malaria cases decline in Wokha district

Dimapur, Aug. 21 (EMN): Wokha district has recorded decline in the number of malaria from 39 cases in 2017 to 3 cases till date. This was disclosed during the district review meeting of National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme (NVBDCP) held in the conference hall of the CMO, Wokha, on Aug. 21.
In the meeting, DVBO Dr. Zathung and DVBD Consultant Wezolo Medo, have highlighted malaria scenario of the district and the positive impact seen during the year. They informed that malarial cases have declined from 39 cases in 2017 to only 3 cases so far.

The speakers have emphasised on usage of Long Lasting Insecticide Nets (LLINs) and asked the staff to disseminate the information of do’s and don’ts to the citizens. They also urged the members to provide awareness about the diseases and reduction in behavioural changes towards achieving the national target to eliminate the vector borne diseases.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Robin Lotha and Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr. Zuben Kikon, who also attended the meeting, highlighted the importance of surveillance of field workers and timely reporting for early and prompt treatment.
