Make Maths and Science the first loved subjects; teachers told

Kohima, Oct. 31 (EMN): A three-day ‘In-service training for teachers of Science and Mathematics’ under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) got underway at Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Kohima, on October 31.

Gracing the inaugural function Limawabang Aier, State Mission Director RMSA, urged the teachers to improved working culture in Nagaland. He said the concept of the training was to make innovative learning for the students and focused on connecting school-based knowledge of life outside school and to make the learning of mathematics a joyful and meaningful activity for the students.

Lima also informed that mathematics kits will be supplied to 161 schools under RMSA in the State.

Visiezolie Yashü, Joint Mission Director RMSA, delivering a keynote address, said the objectives of conducting training is to enable children to be motivated and engaged in Science, Mathematics and Technology (SMT) through observation, experimentation, inference drawing, model building, rational reasoning, testability etc.

RMSA conducted the in-service training and workshops for Science and Mathematics teachers in order to arm them with the latest strategies in managing the subject matters so that they become interesting to students and also becomes the first loved subjects.

The training aims at nurturing a spirit of enquiry and creativity, love for science and mathematics, and effective use of technology amongst children, said Yashü.

He also encouraged the teachers to be able to create excitement, curiosity, and spirit of exploration among the students in their teaching of maths and science also further encouraged them to nurture schools to be incubators of innovation.

The topics dwelt on the usage of technology in the school environment to teach Science and Mathematics subjects under Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan. Teachers from all the districts are attended the training.
