Dimapur, March 19 (EMN): Governor PB Acharya today urged every individual irrespective of their belief to come together and make India into a strong nation and to uphold their mother tongue in order to preserve their identity.

Speaking at the public reception in his honour by the Mech Kachari Hindus of Dimapur on March 19 at Shri Shri Laxmi Mandir, Naharabari, Dimapur, Acharya said India respects diversity with ‘secularism as one unique characteristic’ to exercise freedom of religion in contradiction to communism which dismisses the existence of God.

He remarked that there is no opinion in India where one community holds their respective religion superior over the other adding no one has been entitled the right to stop a community from practising their belief.

Acharya advocated for every religion-irrespective of their belief to come together to make ‘India great’ and reminded the community on the maxim ‘Where there is a will there is a way.’

He said there are lots of people who do not believe in the existence of God known as ‘nastik’ (atheist) and there are even some states who follow only one ‘Granth’ (place where all the people follow one religion) such as Saudi Arabia. He, however, said there is one specialty of India which respects diversity even with multiple languages, diverse race and culture co-existing in unity as one nation.

Emphasising on parity, Acharya said we are all entitled with equal opportunity with ‘one vote rights’ and no person is poverty-ridden. However, he said education is essential to overcome poverty.

According to Acharya, India constitutes 68% of youth which is the highest compared to other developed countries. He said in a State like Nagaland with a population of 20 lakh, the State has three lakh graduates which is satisfactory and above the national average. With the encouraging number of graduates possessing adequate skills, he said India can boast as one of the best human resource development in the world.

Drawing attention on the value of language, Acharya reminded the community that the cultural centre- North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) is designed for every individual. He persuaded the community to make use of the Centre to preserve their culture and not to be uprooted.

Expounding that language and culture is our identity which is also a vehicle for thought, the Governor advocated the community exposing children to their first language till fifth standard so that they remain rooted with their culture.

Acharya, while conveying that his doors will always be open for the community, assured of all possible assistance and protection in their times needs.
