Majakong wins 3rd Inter-Ward Beat Contest in Mokokchung
The assemble band from Majakong won the 3rd Inter-Ward Beat Contest Mokokchung, which was held at Town Hall in Mokokchung on Dec. 15.
The event is considered as one of the best clashes of bands among the 18 Wards in Mokokchung and is been organised by Temulonger Telok- a group of liked minded musicians.
This year nine bands took part in the contest. The bands were made to present two songs of their choice and the contest was judged by a panel of judges including Meyalemba, Arenlong and Bendangtemsu Ozukum.
After a night of rock music, the band from Majakong Ward emerged as the ultimate winner; they also won three individual prizes in different categories. Kichutip Ward emerged as the runners-up.
The winning band was awarded a cash prize of twenty-five thousand along-with certificates and a running trophy. The runners-up was given a cash prize of INR 15,000 and certificates.
In the individual prize category, the Best Vocal was bagged by Noktidong ( Majakong Ward), Best Guitarist – Hesen Longkumer (Kichutip Ward), Best Bassist Merensunep (Yimyu Ward), and Best Drummer – Talimerenla (Sangtemla Ward).
Two special awards – Controllers Late Tiayanger Award for Best Guitarist and Controllers Late Aowati Award for Best drummer presented during the event was bagged by Hesen Longkumer and Talimerenla respectively.
The awards were sponsored by the Controllers- who were one of the best bands during the ’70s and ’80s. They were also the first band to win the first beat contest held in Mokokchung in the year 1971.
