Dimapur, Jan. 2: Lt. Gen. Anil Chauhan, AVSM, SM, VSM, has taken over the command of 3 Corps from Lt. Gen. Abhay Krishna, AVSM, SM, VSM. The new GOC is an alumnus of National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. He was commissioned into the 11th Gorkha Rifles in 1981.
Lt. Gen. Chauhan has had a distinguished career spanning various command, staff and instructional appointments. Most of his command assignments have been in insurgency and terrorism affected areas of Jammu & Kashmir and the North East. He had served in various capacities at Army HQ and as UN military observer in Angola.
Lt. Gen. Abhay Krishna and Lt. Gen. Anil Chauhan have conveyed their best wishes to the people of the North East region on the occasion of the New year.
