Silver Cup T20 Tournament
Kohima, March 19 (EMN): Lower Bayavü Giants defeated Kohima Thunders by 28 runs at Jakhama local ground on Saturday.
With the win, Giants moved into the quarter final of the 8th Silver Cup T20 Cricket Tournament organised by Nepali Baptist Church Kohima Youth Department.
Due to inclement weather on Saturday, the match between Lower Bayavü Giants and Kohima Thunders was reduced to just six overs after due consultations with the team captains as the winner is scheduled to play Monday’s quarter final match.
Playing the six over match in the rain soaked ground, Lower Bayavü Giants won the toss and elected to bat first and set a target of 79 runs losing 4 wickets. Sandeep Paul remained unbeaten at 26 runs while skipper Tapitu contributed 23 runs. Kohima Thunders bowlers Rokovoto and Vungathung Murry claimed two wickets each.
However, chasing the target, Thunders managed to score only 50 runs losing four wickets in the stipulated overs. Lower Bayavü Giants won the match by 28 runs Mhonyamo Yanthan scored 27 runs for Kohima Thunders.
Lower Bayavü Giants bowlers Thungjamo, Sanjiv, Tapitu and Deepak took one wicket each, while Tapitu was adjudged Man of the match.
