Kohima, Dec. 8 (EMN): Defending champions Lower Bayavü Giants defended the title as they beat Upper Bayavü Sixers by 18 runs in the final match to win the 5th edition of 10-Northern Angami-I T20 Bash organised by Brotherhood Group at the Kohima village ground, Ziekezou on Friday.
In the final match, Lower Bayavü Giants after electing to bat first set a huge target of 174/7 in 20 overs. Tapitu (57) and Chumbe (33) scored the highest runs for Giants while Sepichem claimed three wickets in four overs for Sixers.
Chasing the target of 175 runs, Upper Bayavü Sixers were short of 18 runs as they managed to score only 156/7 in 20 overs. Moarenba (43) and Depebe (32) contributed the highest runs for Sixers while Thungchamo claimed four wickets in four overs for Giants. Thungchamo with his four wickets was adjudged as the man of the final match.
The champions team Lower Bayavü Giants walked home with a cash prize of INR. 1 lakh and runners-up Upper Bayavü Sixers received INR. 50,000 respectively along with the running trophies.
The best disciplined team was awarded to D Khel United and received a cash of INR. 10000 and player of the tournament, Khriesavituo of North Block Warriors received a scooty along with citations.
16 teams from the 10th Northern Angami assembly constituency participated in the three-week long tournament organised by Brotherhood Group with the initiative and complete sponsorship of Khriehu Liezietsu under the theme ‘Bat for unity’.
