DIMAPUR, JULY 5

The Lotha Hoho has on Sunday warned that any of its members – be it individuals or village communities – making clandestine deals with the state government or any other agencies “without the permission of the Lotha Hoho” would be solely held responsible for any repercussions, in the nature of economic losses, environmental damages or health hazards.
In a press release, the Lotha Hoho stated that it reserves the “right of stringent action” on erring members or village communities. It reminded that since the issue of oil extraction had surfaced, the Lotha Hoho has been working “relentlessly” on the subject. “This is for information of all Lothas that in reiteration of our earlier decision at our general body meeting in LTC Hall, Wokha where in all members including oil-well owners of Changpang and Tssori decided that the oil issue, being an intricate subject, be solely taken up at the Hoho level.
“Subsequently a sub-committee was appointed to draft our own Lotha tribe’s modality but the government ignored our submission. Thereupon a resolution which states that until and unless the demands in the modality are accepted, the Lothas will not honor any legislator on the matter,” it reminded.
