Longkhoi’s brace lead United 16 to win, Khriekesa FC remain on top

Kohima, August 14(EMN): Longkhoi scored twice as United 16 FC beat Nagabazar FC 3-1 in the second round of the ongoing Kohima Football League at Kohima local ground on Monday. Nagabazar registered their first win in the league, after playing a goalless draw in the first round against Forerunners’ FC.
United 16 FC started brightly and Longkhoi opened the scoring in the 24th minute as his teammate passed a through ball for him to score. Nagabazar, on the other hand, failed to breach the defensive line of United 16 as the keeper Vekuto Puro was kept quiet for much of the time during the game.

With a goal in hand, United didn’t defend but started their counter attacks in the second half, thus resulting in the second goal when United 16 skipper Jonathan Koso was brought down by the defender in the area and the referee awarded the team with a penalty. Hekato coolly converted the spot kick in 54th minute to make it 2-0.
Substitute Lone Kiso made an immediate impact after he was introduced in the second half and he assisted a goal for Longkhoi to score in the 67th minute.
Goalie Vekuto Puro was denied a clean sheet as the defensive error from his teammates handed a goal for Nagabazar FC in the 78th minute, with Vikhosa finding the back of the net for Nagabazar FC in the 78th minute. There was no comeback from Nagabazar side as United held on for the win.
During the match, Hekato of United 16 FC and Neikehezo Rutsa of Naga Bazar FC were cautioned with a yellow card each.

Earlier, League leaders Khriekesa FC beat defending champions of Morning Premier League, Power Comm by a solitary goal in the first match of the second round and remained on top of the Kohima Football League table with 6 points.
Playing in a foggy and mud soaked ground, both the teams created numerous chances but failed to convert and rued their missed opportunity during the match.
Petevizo Kezieo who earlier scored a brace against Addax FC found the net again in the second match played against Power Comm. His goal was the only difference between the two teams as Khriekesa FC fought hard to earn the three points.
Power Comm lacked a scoring touch as they missed out on their numerous attempts. They are yet to score in the big league from two games. Mele Pucho who is the highest scorer of Morning Premier League failed to find the back of the net.
Kekhriese Ciesotsu and Keviriituo Usou of Khriekesa FC were cautioned with a yellow card each during the match.
Kethosietuo Sekhose, Administrator KMC was the match patron for both the matches.
