Dimapur, Feb.15: Proprietor of Aries Rifle & Pistol Shooting Academy, and the president of Nagaland Rifle Association, Merang Jamir will soon add one more feather to his cap as he is set to take part in the upcoming International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) World Cup 2019 as a technical official.

The event will be held from Feb. 20 to 28th at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Ranges, in New Delhi. Shooters from around the world will participate in the hope of grabbing maximum quotas for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Presently, Jamir is a judge and coach of the ISSF, and also a governing body member of the National Rifle Association of India. He had earlier served as a technical official at the 12th South Asian Games 2016 held in Guwahati and the 2nd Khelo India Youth Games held at Pune in January this year.

Jamir, who did the ISSF Judge’s course for Rifle & Pistol from Sydney, Australia, became the first Naga to judge in ISSF event in 2016.

Jamir had won the first-ever medal for Nagaland at the National Shooting Championships Competitions (NSCC) in 2017 held in Kerala by winning a silver, and won gold at the 27th All India G.V. Mavlankar Shooting Championships, held in Mumbai, 2017. He also won the Gajen Chandra Kalita Memorial Running Trophy at the North East Zone Shooting Championship (officials) held in Aizawl last year.
