Dimapur, Sep. 26 (EMN):
Expounding that everyone is created equally by God, parliamentary secretary of Irrigation and Flood Control, Tovihoto Ayemi, today made a fervent call to foster bond of brotherhood irrespective of creed, caste, religion and community.

Speaking as the chief guest of the silver jubilee celebration of Durga Puja organised by Progressive Youth Association (PYA) in Dimapur, Ayemi exhorted that “we must inculcate a sense of brotherhood amongst us since we are all equal in the eyes of God and we should live in harmony.”

Ayemi has particularly emphasised on fostering common brotherhood stating that Dimapur is a place where people from every nook and corner of the nation co-exist peacefully. He stated that this message of peaceful co-existence should be spread to the rest of the region and the country.

In this regard, he urged people from outside the State residing in Dimapur to spread the message of harmonious living to their home states and other regions. “If those of you living here become a witness for Nagaland about peaceful co-existence when you visit your home states, it can create positive vibes,” he added. While commenting his attachment with all communities irrespective of religion, he encouraged the rest to continue respecting each other.

He has lauded the Progressive Youth Association on attaining 25 years of Durga Puja celebrations and encouraged them to work with renewed support and cooperation among themselves looking towards the golden jubilee.

Also observing that Durga Puja symbolises victory of good over evil, he urged the gathering to reflect on its significance in their daily lives by forgiving each other’s misdeeds and allow goodness to prevail.

The programme was attended by leaders from various communities including Bhojpuri Samaj, Kachari community, GBs of various colonies, former DMC councillors namely Kuhoi Zhimo and Vikheho Zhimo among others.
