Studies of law studies have deiced to exert more pressure on the government to establish a state human rights commission, a government college for law as well as to establish a high court for the state of Nagaland.
The Nagaland Law Students’ Federation took the decision during their 2nd “federal assembly” on November 24.
The organization decided to “to give more pressure in the process of establishment of government law college and state high court in Nagaland,” a note from the organization stated on Tuesday. The group said to “give more pressure to the vice chancellor to have the separate law department, to (set up) administrative sub-branch at Merema campus and to review the examination marking system under NU.”
Likewise, the organization said it would appeal to the state government to set up a state human rights commission at the earliest and “not to politicize while appointing members.”
Another demand to set up a ‘directorate of prosecution’ in Nagaland as enshrined in the Indian Constitution under section ‘25a, CRPC’ would be placed before the government, the students stated.
The organization has asked the authorities to ‘maintain proper library in all the law colleges under Nagaland University,’ the note added.
