Landslide claims life in Mokokchung town

Mokokchung, April 21 (EMN): One person killed and three others were injured in a landslide that occurred at a construction site below NH 2 in Tongdentsuyong Ward, Mokokchung on Saturday.
Police reports said that the incidents occurred around 4 pm when the manual workers were busy constructing a retaining wall. The deceased has been identified as one Sezutemsu, aged 20, hailing from Longmisa village.
The injured persons have been identified was Pangershijung (19 years) and Imsutemjen (28 years) both from Longmisa village, and Moatoshi (20 years) from Mokokchung village.
Police along with members of the public immediately rushed to the spot to dig up the victims trapped inside the earth; it took one and half hour for them to rescue the victims, police officials said.
It was informed that Sezutemsu was found already dead when the rescuers managed to dig through the rubble. His body has been handed over to the family while the injured persons were rushed to Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital, and are currently under observation, according to police.
ADC Mokokchung W Manpai Phom along with Mokokchung District Disaster Authority and Home Guard & Civil Defence personnel also rushed to the spot to supervise the aftermath. Some garages where also dismantled along the NH 2 fearing further loss of soil.
The deputy commissioner of Mokokchung, Sachin Jaiswal informed this correspondent that emergency relief fund of INR 10,000 has been given to the deceased’s family while INR 3000 each were given to the injured.
