All the 4-Lane Highway (Asian Highway) Affected Landowners has strongly resented and termed as unacceptable the proposed decision of the NHIDCL (National Highway & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd.) a construction agency to pay the land compensation on installment basis on the pretext of “Fund Shortage” of the Govt. of India, despite the fact that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) has sanctioned the exact land compensation amount of Rs. 1,74,36,59,521 (one hundred seventy four crore, thirty six lakh, fifty nine thousand five hundred and twenty one, for payment of land and other compensation for the construction of 4-Lane Dimapur Bypass from Patkai/Chumukedima Bridge to Khushiabill Village under Dimapur district in the State of Nagaland.
“The manipulative tactics of the Highway Construction Agency (NHIDCL) is highly condemnable. The Naga civil society organisations such as NSF, ACAUT etc. should take note of the deceiving policy of the agency. It is an outright attempt to deprive the simple tribal Nagas of their rightful claim,” said a statement issued by Lane Highway Affected Landowners. The State government officials, in particular the Dimapur district administration have been requested to be cautious of the ‘nefarious design’ of the NHIDCL lest they found in collusion with the agency in exploiting their own people.
“The 4-lane affected land owners will not accept installment or part payments of the land compensation. The NHIDCL must at the earliest release the compensation money to the affected land owners before February16, failing which the land owners will take up strong democratic agitation along with print and TV media besides RTI filing into the “about-to-become multi -crore-land- compensation- scam in Nagaland”, the statement said.
